Tom and Liz Forrest have been running Cromasaig, Kinlochewe as a small family-run, family orientated dog friendly B & B since 1993, we trust that our homely style of highland hospitality can make your stay both comfortable and relaxed.We have an intimate knowledge of the the local area and beyond, advice can be given on climbing, walking and driving excursions. Our good wholesome home cooking, varying and special diets including Vegetarian , Vegan and Coeliac, all to outdoor activist proportions, are paramount to the enjoyment of your visit to this beautiful area of Wester-Ross in the North West Highlands of Scotland.

Located on the Southern edge of Fisherfield Forest one of Scotland's last wild areas, surrounded by the rampart like peaks of the Torridon Mountains, and close to the beautiful Loch Maree, Cromasaig is ideally situated for walkers, climbers and is the perfect stopover for those walking the Cape Wrath Trail. Or use Cromasaig as a base for touring the North West Highlands and the Isle of Skye.

For walkers and climbers there are some 20 Munros, innumerable classic climbing routes both winter and summer and over 20 Corbetts within 25 miles of Cromasaig. For those touring the Western Highlands, the Torridon Deer Museum and visitor centre,Inverewe Gardens both National Trust for Scotland, the stunning Applecross Peninsular with it's top class eating establishment, The Applecross Inn, and the Isle of Skye are all within easy reach, while the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve and visitor centre, the first in Britain, established in 1951, is on our doorstep.

The geology of the area is unique with some of the oldest rock structures in the world, the Moine Thrust runs through the village , a fine example of moraine is visible in Glen Torridon opposite the Coire Dubh car park (picture below).

For the botanist the area has an abundance of flora and fauna of all descriptions. Over two hundred varieties of alpine plants and lichens, some extremely rare,grow on the surrounding mountains,gullies and glens, Red Deer, Golden and White Tailed Eagles, Otters and Pine-Martens are regular visitors to Cromasaig and its environs. The area around Beinn Eighe is renowned for its wide and varied collection of birdlife,some regular winter visitors such as Waxwing, an ornithologists paradise, for the entomologist, a large variety of butterflies,damselflies and dragonflies, rare beetles are also prolific within the Torridon Mountains area. Fishing is available on Loch Maree for Salmon, Brown and Sea Trout, and Gairloch has sea fishing and Whale Watching boat trips available from the harbour. Trips to Isle Maree are available from Loch Maree Lodge. The wildlife,natural history and landscapes of the area allow the photographer endless opportunities to capture nature in its true form.

Returning from a day out to Skye and places south, drop in to the Ledgowan Lodge Hotel at Achnasheen , excellent cuisine in pleasant surroundings with friendly staff.

We at Cromasaig have an excellent reputation for our home cooked food and wide and varied menu, including vegetarian dishes, using local fresh fish, shellfish, smoked salmon, venison and produce from our garden and natures garden whenever possible. Complimentary wine is served with meals as is tea/coffee.

Cromasaig was recorded as a dwelling as far back as the 1600's, part of the original still stands in the grounds, the new building was built circa 1920 using stone from the original. Located in Glen Torridon on the outskirts of the village of Kinlochewe, we have three bedrooms; one twin, one single and one family room with three single beds. All rooms have adjacent private shower room/toilet.There is a residents lounge, relax in front of the log fire and feel free to browse our extensive library provided for your use. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities.After a day on the hill, relax your aching muscles in our sauna. We have broadband internet access network and a digital download facility available in house for guest use.
